Panic Attack Symptom

A panic attack symptom is nothing to be feared. But it is. The reason why is that the anxiety a patient feels is often worse than the actual attack. The build up is so great in ones mind that it often takes over and predominates all other thought. Think about the people with a very obscure illness. They may have symptoms that mimic those of panic sufferers symptoms to.

What are the common symptoms?

  • Dizziness
  • Unable to breath deeply
  • Light headedness
  • Overwhelming feeling of anxiety
  • Heavy heart beats

As you can see, these symptoms are so common that they can give false positives for other disorders or medical emergencies like a heart attack.

If a middle aged person walked into the emergency room clutching his chest, unable to breath deeply, the doctors would likely suspect it may be a heart attack and take the appropriate measures to confirm or deny such.

Not An Illness

Panic attacks can overwhelm patients. They think that the anxiety is some form of illness. When it gets out of control it just scares tehm moer. That additional anxiety mixed in with fear is a disastrous cocktail. The one feeds off of the other and before you know it patients are unable to sleep, work and do the other things normal healthy people would do.

The heavy and rapidly beating heart will just pound harder and harder the less air (oxygen) a patient gets. Sweating begins to enter the picture. The body might experience tremor (shaking). The shakes is visible and often causes the patient to feel that death is even more imminent. The more the chest tightens the greater the patients inability to breath will become.

Many times these symptoms cause stomach upset or GI disturbances. they might feel nauseated or become bloated also. Patients going through these many symptoms are almost certain they cannot make it. It is a viscous cycle.

Panic attack symptoms develop on account of a few changes in the biochemical nature of the patient and these changes only occur when the patient is feeling much stressed or is very anxious about something. Though the human body is known to be very resilient it can also be overcome when the panic attack symptoms become especially strong.

The good news is that there is nothing to worry about on account of the panic attack symptoms resulting in any harm to the patient because there is no such worry. However, the patient will have to endure horrifying and very scary moments which are caused as a result of the body’s normal sensations as well as because of their reactions to the anxiety becoming exaggerated and out of proportion to reality.

You don’t need to put up with panic attack symptoms and so it pays to understand why such symptoms are caused. The cause of panic attack symptoms is in fact believed to be imbalance in the organ that deals with responding to anxiety and this organ is known as Amygdala that is an anxiety switch or the control center of the brain that controls anxiety. When this switch turns on instead of remaining off it leads to onset of panic attack symptoms. To eliminate these symptoms requires doing everything possible to set the switch to the ‘Off’ position once more.
